The Cabaret Intourlude Itinerary
Our next travel dates are APRIL 29 to MAY 8, 2008
.
This itinerary has lots of flexibility built into it -- we're open to magic.
An evening departure on Air France from Chicago.
DAY 1—An orientation tour of Paris, the TGV to Dordogne, and lodging at a country manor near Sarlat.
DAY 2—In Dordogne, meandering through riverside towns, the ancient cliff-dwellers village of La Roque St. Christophe, Josephine Baker’s chateau and falconry.
DAY 3—After a leisurely morning, return to Paris to take in the neighborhood around our Latin Quarter hotel, the 3-star Elysa-Luxembourg.
DAY 4—Walking (unless you want to rent one of the new Velib’ bicycles!) around favorite haunts, ending at the Bastille where Eric Vincent’s houseboat is moored and our private dinner-concert-cruise on the Seine begins.
DAY 5—A day trip to Giverny to visit the Musée d’art américain, a picnic in Vernon by the Seine and a stroll through Monet’s house gardens. Return to Paris for buffet and company at Patricia LaPlante’s salon.
DAYS 6, 7, 8 —Lots of time to see the “must-see” sites like the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, the light show at the Eiffel Tower. Claudia recommends off-the-path museums, the new Simone de Beauvoir passerelle, “her” neighborhood near Canal St. Martin and the waterfalls at La Butte Chaumont, the Mouffetard sing-along. All flexible, open to suggestion, with plenty of opportunity to explore on one’s own—map and Metro tickets in hand.
Included are visits to the original cabaret Lapin Agile, the Musée d’Orsay, the jam session at Café Universel, the Bouillon Chartiers. If Claudia has a club date or concert during this trip, we’ll adjust plans accordingly.
DAY 9—an early afternoon return to the States.
